Global "ransomware" cyber-attack
You will be aware from widespread media coverage that there has been an International cyber-attack affecting a number of organisations in some 100+ countries across the globe. This includes the NHS in both England and here in Scotland.
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) enacted emergency procedures to ensure the continued integrity of our systems on the afternoon of 12th May until more information was known about the nature of the attack and its mitigation. Part of this activity meant that we took SOAR offline completely as a precautionary measure. Once we established all necessary security was in place we put SOAR back online on Sunday morning (14th May).
Please be assured that no data has been lost or compromised and SOAR is safe to use again.
We apologise for any inconvenience this action may have caused you.
Please remain vigilant against suspicious email, particularly with regard to links and/or attachments contained within.
If you find that something is wrong, i.e. if you find that your files are damaged, or if you see demands for payment while attempting to access files - switch off your computer and contact your IT dept immediately.
