Medical Appraisal offers doctors formative, systematic and regular reviews with a trained peer. It also supports doctors in preparing for revalidation, allowing a positive demonstration of fitness to practise.
In Scotland the appraisers, employed by health boards, are trained by NES to ensure consistency and approach to appraisals. "New Appraiser" courses are designed for those new to the role; whilst we have a programme of "Refresher Appraiser" activities to support the appraiser workforce's ongoing development.
The scheme has been well received by both primary and secondary care colleagues. Interested in joining an enthusiastic group of appraisers in your health board? Details below!
