SOAR currently sits on a platform running on very old technology.  As part of the project we had hoped to move SOAR over to the platform that is hosting Turas.  Unfortunately this proved to be a far more significant project than anticipated once the developers investigated deeper into how some of the functionalities are built and how it's reliant on the old platform (one example is the PDF functions, which is very widely used on SOAR).  An uneducated estimate would require at least 2 or 3 sprints alone to complete this work which is impractical and outwith our resources.

An alternative approach was suggested by the developers where we build a separate version of SOAR for appraisees only which would sit in the new platform along with other Turas applications, with a view to then move the rest of SOAR at a later project.

The main challenge is to ensure that the roles switching function within SOAR still work as is so that from a user experience point of view it shouldn't impact them when they switch from an appraisee to an appraiser or Appraisal Lead or Ed Sup etc.  This will be dependent on ensuring the single-sign-on function with SOAR and Turas and Microsoft login can work as developers hope.

We had planned for the work to be completed by end of March.  Unfortunately the project started late.  Tactuum identified that the project would take about 10 months to complete.  Tactuum tried to run both the requirements gathering stage and the build concurrently but it was clear early on that this approach was not viable.

Have escalated this with key stakeholders and there is agreement to extend the project end date to end of July instead.
