This project is funded by Scottish government following last year’s national review which recommended we overhaul and improve the appraisee user experience and interface. The recommendations were:
Therefore the appraisee role and functions will be the focus of our development.
The NES team has been working with Tactuum, our external partner developer for this project, to fully understand the technical requirements prior to development.
This user group has been convened to help with input and testing.
The focus of the development will be on the appraisees only, as that was the recommendation from the review. There will be some pages/functions that overlap other user roles on SOAR, but the priority is with the appraisees at this time.
To facilitate the login improvement (item 5 above), we will be making use of the 2-factor login already in use on the Turas platform. As part of this, SOAR will begin the process to gradually be incorporated onto the Turas platform, and as such we will be using the Turas style guide for the redesign. This means that we will be restricted in terms of colour schemes or how certain functions "look" (e.g. we wouldn’t be able to change the footer design or colour etc), but for the most part this shouldn’t be an issue.
Target completion date by July 2024.
The development work will be broken up into sprints and as we work through each one, we will ask for your input on our proposals to ensure that, from an appraisee perspective, it works for them and the changes are a clear improvement. We would facilitate this by sharing the wireframes with you for your considerations.
We are not re-building like-for-like and will look to ensure what we propose make sense, and in some cases, we would ask for your suggestions on best approaches/ideas etc and we will then take that to the developers for their considerations.
Given the finite time and resource, we will not be able to address all comments but we will certainly consider all feedback (like we did with the survey).
If availability allows, we would welcome your contributions in testing too, but the internal NES team will lead on that.
This is very much a volunteer role, as such we are not expecting the same commitment or input from everyone throughout all the sprints – we will take whatever you are able to contribute to.
If you have further queries please do not hesitate to reach out to William for a chat.
