Quality Improvement Activity (QIA) is required once in a 5-year revalidation cycle; and a review of Significant Events is required for every appraisal..
You are required to provide details of a Quality Improvement Activity (QIA) once in a 5-year revalidation cycle. This is required of all doctors practicing in the UK.
Examples included in the main toolkit are applicable in your role, but in this section you will find a range of tried and tested tools which can help you to provide supporting information relating to QIA, in particular there are some worked examples in prescribing and referrals which you may find helpful.
You may provide as many QIA reviews as you wish, but this is only required once in a 5-year revalidation cycle; however, minimum standards should not be a reason for not taking part in any works that improves patient care.
This is an important part of any doctor's work, and the Child Protection and Safeguarding section in the main toolkit encourages you to ensure your training is up to date and to reflect on any child protection cases that you come across. You could write up an anonymised discussion on one of these as a case review, but clearly you will need input from the practice team members involved.
