Recognition Of Trainer

In keeping with the GMC Recognition of Trainers policy, all "named-trainer" roles require formal recognition.

Initial recognition is a process managed by the DMEs (Directors of Medical Education) and EOs (Educational Organisations).  When recognised, all trainers are asked to complete a ROT form on SOAR as part of their annual appraisal.

When you have been revalidated, the re-recognition (or continued-recognition) processes kick in where the DME will review (at your next appraisal) the ROT forms from the past few years and make a decision on whether to re-recognise your trainer role (not too dissimilar to ROs and revalidation).

The document below acts as a checklist to aid your completion of ROT form on SOAR.

For detailed guidance around the RoT processes itself, please visit the Scottish Deanery website.
